Finding beauty in the ordinary.
Burton Brook Farm is an 80-acre hobby farm located in the Harlem Valley, just east of the Taconic Mountains in New York, and about an hour outside of New York City.
Caretakers Zach Grob and Leighann Kowalsky look after the property and it’s Lindal dwelling, photographing interior design vignettes, capturing their animals and the myriad wildlife in surround. Kowalsky & Grob enjoy sharing their journey through home-renovation, plant discovery, the changing seasons, and finding the beauty in the ordinary.
This land was previously cared for by Munsee-Lenape and Algonquain indigenous tribes, and is alive with plantlife traditionally used in indigenous medicine. Meandering through the valley is a small trout stream modernly referred to as “Burton Brook” and acting as a source of nourishment to wildflowers, mint, oak trees and many of the winged and other creatures who frequent it.
